The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County has scheduled several key public meetings for Thursday, March 5, 2026. Residents are encouraged to participate in these sessions to stay informed on local governance and community health initiatives.

  • Metropolitan Council Black Caucus Meeting: The caucus will convene at 6:00 p.m. at the Historic Metro Courthouse. This meeting is open to the public and will address legislative priorities and community concerns relevant to the caucus mission.
  • Behavioral Health and Wellness Advisory Council: A regular session will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Lentz Public Health Center. The council will discuss ongoing initiatives regarding mental health services and public wellness strategies within the city.
  • Aging Advisory Committee: The Greater Nashville Regional Council (GNRC) Aging Advisory Committee is scheduled to meet at 10:00 a.m. at the GNRC offices located at 44 Vantage Way, Suite 450. The committee will develop recommendations for regional aging and disability programs.

Community Engagement Meetings

Individual council districts are hosting community-specific events this evening to provide updates on local projects and safety.

  • District 28 Community Meeting: Council member-led session at the Southeast Police Precinct from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • District 6 Community Meeting: Residents are invited to the Kirkpatrick Community Center at 6:00 p.m. for a neighborhood update.

Infrastructure and Road Closure Alerts

The Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure (NDOT) has issued updates regarding several ongoing projects affecting city traffic and pedestrian access.

  • Forest Park Road (Madison): The closure of Forest Park Road from Neely’s Bend Road to the Lexington Garden Apartments has been extended through March 27, 2026. This is to facilitate the completion of a sidewalk improvement project.
  • Nolensville Pike (US 31A): A continuous closure of Bradford Hills Drive remains in effect and is expected to last until April 2026 as part of the widening and bridge replacement project.
  • Bridge Maintenance: Intermittent partial closures continue on the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge for essential repairs. Additionally, Phase 2 of the Woodland Street Bridge repair project is active, which may result in lane shifts.

Public Safety and Community Service Announcements

The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) continues its "Park Smart" public service campaign. Following a series of vehicle-related thefts earlier this week, the department reminds all Nashvillians and visitors to secure their vehicles, remove all valuables, and never leave keys or firearms inside an unattended car. Additionally, the Nashville Soccer Club has launched its seventh annual "Kickstart to Reading" program in partnership with Metro Nashville Public Schools to support literacy goals for third-grade students across 22 local elementary schools.
