Public Hearing: I-24 Southeast Choice Lanes

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) is hosting a vital public hearing this evening regarding the proposed widening of Interstate 24. This project involves the addition of price-managed "Choice Lanes" between I-40 and I-840. The hearing will take place at the Coleman Park Community Center, located at 384 Thompson Lane, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

A formal presentation will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by a session for verbal questions and answers. Residents are encouraged to attend to provide feedback on the Environmental Assessment and the recommended preferred alternative for this major corridor project.

Traffic and Infrastructure Alerts

Motorists should prepare for significant nighttime disruptions and ongoing construction projects across the metro area today.

  • I-65 Bridge Deck Pour: A full closure is scheduled tonight starting at 8:00 p.m. at Exit 98. Crews will be conducting a concrete bridge deck pour for the new I-65 bridge. Southbound I-65 traffic will be detoured, and US-31W (State Route 41) will be closed in both directions under the bridge. The lanes are expected to reopen by 5:00 a.m. Thursday.
  • I-40 Utility Maintenance: Expect an eastbound shoulder closure today on I-40 near Mile Marker 208 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. for the installation of new utility light poles.
  • John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge: Ongoing repair work continues on the historic pedestrian bridge. While the north sidewalk remains open for foot traffic, residents should expect intermittent partial closures throughout the day.
  • Nolensville Pike (State Route 11): A continuous closure of Bradford Hills Drive remains in effect as part of a major road-widening project. Detours are posted, and blasting operations may cause brief temporary holds on traffic in the surrounding area during daylight hours.

Drivers are reminded to slow down in work zones and adhere to the state's Move Over Law to ensure the safety of maintenance crews and fellow motorists.
