Woman arrested as driver in November 2025 shooting outside Nashville’s Justice A.A. Birch Courthouse

Arrest follows months-long investigation into courthouse drop-off gunfire

A 22-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a Nov. 10, 2025 shooting that injured a 50-year-old woman outside the Justice A.A. Birch Building in downtown Nashville. Police say the arrest addresses the driver’s alleged role in the incident, while the search for the person who fired the weapon remains ongoing.

The shooting occurred around 8:40 a.m. in the cutout driveway at the courthouse entrance on 2nd Avenue North, an area used for passenger drop-offs during morning court activity. Investigators have described the event as stemming from a traffic backup and escalating into an apparent road-rage confrontation.

What investigators say happened on Nov. 10, 2025

Based on the publicly described sequence of events, the victim was in or near a white vehicle stopped in the drop-off zone when a gray Dodge SUV pulled in behind it amid congestion and horn-honking. Police say the victim exited her vehicle and approached the SUV on the passenger side. Shots were then fired from the SUV, and the vehicle left the scene.

The victim entered the courthouse seeking help and was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Police have said the wound was minor and not life-threatening, and she was released the same day. Authorities also reported that after her release, the victim was taken into custody on an outstanding probation violation warrant and had been at the courthouse that morning for a scheduled court appearance.

Vehicle recovery and the February 2026 arrest

Investigators located the SUV later on Nov. 10, 2025 at an apartment complex in Goodlettsville and impounded it as part of the case.

On Feb. 10, 2026, police arrested Rickora A. Walker at her workplace. Authorities say Walker admitted she was driving the SUV at the time shots were fired, but declined to identify the passenger or person believed to have fired the gun.

What remains unresolved

  • The identity of the shooter has not been publicly confirmed by investigators.

  • Police have indicated the investigation to identify the shooter is active.

  • The driver’s alleged role is now part of a criminal case that could clarify accountability for actions before and after the shots were fired.

The case highlights how quickly a routine congestion problem at a high-security government location can escalate into gunfire, while also underscoring that the core question—who pulled the trigger—remains under investigation.
