Three golds in Nashville

Texas A&M junior Ava Whitaker, a former standout from Nacogdoches, Texas, won three events in a women’s swimming double-dual held in Nashville at Centennial Sportsplex on Vanderbilt University’s campus. The meet paired Texas A&M against host Vanderbilt and Kentucky in a single session.

Whitaker’s three victories came in the 200-yard medley relay and in both butterfly events contested individually. In the 200 medley relay, she swam on Texas A&M’s winning team that finished in 1:37.97 alongside Kaitlyn Owens, Ella McQuinn and Reagan Sherrard. Whitaker also posted individual wins in the 100-yard butterfly (52.83) and the 200-yard butterfly (1:56.05).

Team results and meet context

The performances contributed to decisive team outcomes for the Aggies. Texas A&M defeated Vanderbilt 202–54 and edged Kentucky 151–147 in the same Nashville session, underscoring both a dominant result against the host team and a close, score-sensitive finish against Kentucky.

Whitaker entered the Nashville competition as one of Texas A&M’s established scoring options in the butterfly events. Earlier in the season, she produced NCAA-qualifying standard times in the 200-yard butterfly during a Texas A&M meet in Tucson, and she has recorded multiple high finishes at invitational competition during the 2025–26 campaign.

Event-by-event: what Whitaker won

  • 200-yard medley relay: Texas A&M relay team won in 1:37.97 (Whitaker, Owens, McQuinn, Sherrard).
  • 100-yard butterfly: first place in 52.83.
  • 200-yard butterfly: first place in 1:56.05.

The Nashville session combined a lopsided win over Vanderbilt with a narrow victory over Kentucky, increasing the value of multi-event scorers in the final tally.

What’s next for Texas A&M

Texas A&M is scheduled to return home to College Station for its next competition, hosting Alabama on Friday at the Rec Center Natatorium. The meet will provide another midseason benchmark as the Aggies continue their winter schedule and athletes seek to sharpen times and secure postseason standards.
