Official Notice: Presidents' Day Service Schedules and Municipal Updates

Public Service Announcement: Presidents' Day Holiday Operations
In observance of Presidents' Day on Monday, February 16, 2026, Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County offices will be closed. This closure affects administrative offices, including the Metro Courthouse and various departmental headquarters. Emergency services remain fully operational. Residents are advised of the following specific service impacts and public notices active for this date.
Nashville Waste Services: New Holiday Schedule Policy
The Nashville Department of Waste Services (NWS) reminds residents that a new collection schedule took effect on February 2, 2026. Under the modernized holiday policy, there are no changes to trash and recycling collection when a holiday falls on a Monday. Residents whose regularly scheduled pickup day is Monday should place their carts at the curb as usual by 6:00 a.m. This change is part of a broader operational upgrade to reduce service disruptions and improve route efficiency across the Urban Services District.
Metropolitan Council and Public Meetings
Due to the federal holiday, the Metropolitan Council will not hold meetings on Monday, February 16. The next regularly scheduled meeting is set for Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. in the David Scobey Council Chambers. Key items on the upcoming agenda include:
- Resolution RS2026-1788: Acceptance of a grant for shelter animal care at Metro Animal Care and Control.
- Resolution RS2026-1799: A proposal urging the General Sessions Court to limit certain eviction proceedings.
- Public Health and Safety Committee Meeting: Scheduled for Tuesday, February 17, at 5:00 p.m.
Parks and Recreation: Construction and Maintenance Alerts
Nashville Metro Parks and Recreation issued several notices regarding facility access and ongoing projects:
- Centennial Park: Phase 3 renovations are currently underway. The northside of Centennial Park remains closed for construction. These closures are expected to persist through Fall 2026 to facilitate infrastructure improvements.
- Facility Renaming: Residents are reminded that the area formerly known as Cumberland Park has been officially renamed Wasioto Park.
- Holiday Programming: While administrative offices are closed, the Nashville Recreation Center will host scheduled evening programs today, including Sourdough Bread Making (Level 2) at 6:30 p.m. and Karate at 6:00 p.m.
