Winter Storm Recovery and Restore Nashville Campaign

Following the severe winter weather that impacted the Middle Tennessee region throughout late January and early February, Metro Nashville has transitioned into a comprehensive recovery phase. Mayor Freddie O’Connell has officially launched the “Restore Nashville” campaign, which coordinates local and federal resources to assist residents in the aftermath of the storm. Assistance including rent and mortgage support of up to $2,000 per household is currently available for qualifying families who have faced financial hardship due to the weather emergency. Residents are encouraged to document all property damage with photos and video to support future insurance claims and FEMA aid applications.

Public Lands: Reopening of Williamsport Lakes

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) has announced that Williamsport Lakes and the associated Wildlife Management Area (WMA) will officially reopen to the public on Saturday, February 7, 2026. The area had been closed to allow work crews to clear debris and repair damage caused by recent ice and snow. While the lakes are now safe for public use, visitors are reminded to exercise caution as minor cleanup activities may continue in the surrounding wooded areas.

Infrastructure and Water Service Alerts

Infrastructure recovery remains a priority as Metro Water Services addresses the impact of freezing temperatures on the city's utility network. As of this morning, there are approximately 22 active or possible water main breaks across Davidson County. While most residents have had service restored, crews are working 24-hour shifts to stabilize the system. A general advisory remains in place for residents to report any new sightings of running water in roadways to the city’s emergency utility line.

Road Closures and Construction Notices

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has updated its schedule for several major projects in the Nashville area:

  • SR 11 (Nolensville Pike): Temporary daily lane closures are scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for utility relocation and grading between Mill Creek Bridge and Old Hickory Boulevard.
  • Bradford Hills Drive: This roadway remains under a continuous closure as part of a long-term widening project. A signed detour is in place and is expected to remain active until April 2026.
  • Emergency Repairs: Motorists should anticipate intermittent shoulder closures on I-24 and I-65 as crews continue to repair guardrails and potholes exacerbated by the recent freeze-thaw cycle.

Metro Council Special Committee Hearing

The Metropolitan Council has issued a notice for a special-called joint meeting of the Public Health and Safety Committee and the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. Scheduled for Tuesday, February 10, at 5:00 p.m. in the David Scobey Council Chamber, the session will focus on reviewing Metro’s emergency communication efforts during the 2026 winter storm. The public is invited to attend or view the proceedings via the Metro Nashville Network.
