Public Health Advisory: Minor Cold Weather Alert

The National Weather Service in Nashville has issued a Minor Cold Weather Advisory for Davidson County, effective through noon on Monday, February 2, 2026. Residents are advised that extreme cold temperatures and wind chills are expected to drop as low as zero degrees Fahrenheit on Sunday morning. These conditions pose a significant risk of hypothermia and frostbite for those with prolonged exposure to the outdoors. The Metro Public Health Department urges residents to limit time outside, dress in multiple layers, and check on vulnerable neighbors, including the elderly and those without adequate heating.

In response to the frigid temperatures, the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) has activated more than 270 Soldiers and Airmen from the Tennessee National Guard to support state and county emergency responders. Warming centers are currently operational across Middle Tennessee to provide refuge for displaced residents and those experiencing power outages following recent winter storm activity.

Service Update: New Trash and Recycling Collection Schedule

Effective today, Sunday, February 1, 2026, Metro Nashville has officially launched a new schedule for trash and recycling collection. This administrative change is designed to optimize route efficiency and improve service reliability across the consolidated government area. Residents should consult the official Nashville.gov service map to confirm their new designated pickup days. Please ensure all bins are placed at the curb by the designated time to avoid missed collections during this transition period.
