Morning Outlook: A Spring-Like Reprieve

Good morning, Nashville. After the bone-chilling grip of Winter Storm Fern that left many across Middle Tennessee dealing with power outages and icy roads last week, today brings a much-needed reset. We are looking at a beautiful, spring-like Monday with sunny skies and a high nearing 60 degrees. It is the perfect day to step outside and enjoy the city’s greenways, which have become a symbol of community resilience since they served as our collective escape just a few years ago.

The City Talk: Predators Go Global

The primary talking point at the coffee shops today is the sudden quiet at Bridgestone Arena. A three-week hiatus has officially arrived for the Nashville Predators as the NHL pauses for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina. While the team is on a break, the city’s spirit is traveling to Italy. Our own Captain Roman Josi, along with Filip Forsberg, Erik Haula, and Juuse Saros, have departed to represent their home countries on the world stage. For those of us staying in Smashville, we will have to wait until February 26 to see the gold back on home ice, but expect plenty of watch parties as our stars chase Olympic hardware.

Evening Highlights: Comedy and Courtside Action

If you are looking to head out tonight, the city is buzzing with variety. Trevor Noah takes the historic Ryman Auditorium stage tonight at 8:00 PM for the first of a two-night residency, bringing some much-needed laughter after a tough weather week. For those who prefer sports over stand-up, the Vanderbilt Memorial Gym will be the place to be as the Vanderbilt Commodores Women’s Basketball team hosts the Oklahoma Sooners at 8:00 PM. Additionally, the Grand Kyiv Ballet is scheduled to bring a breathtaking performance of Swan Lake to the city, adding a touch of classical elegance to our Monday night.

Feel-Good Story: The Magic of the Carousel

Our feel-good story of the day comes from just down the road at the Factory at Franklin. The "Carousel of Dreams" recently honored two dedicated volunteers, Bill Foley and Joe Jensen, for their incredible service. Together, the pair contributed nearly 200 volunteer hours in 2025 alone to keep the hand-carved carousel running. Jensen describes the venue as the "happiest place in Franklin," a sentiment shared by the many families who visit. It is a heartwarming reminder of the volunteer spirit that defines our community, ensuring that local landmarks remain a source of joy for everyone from toddlers to octogenarians.

  • Weather: Sunny with a high of 60°F; clear skies tonight with a low of 31°F.
  • Traffic: Standard Monday morning commutes; watch for lingering road repair crews following the recent ice storm.
  • Community: Preparations continue for the East Bank redevelopment as the city looks toward the 2026 opening of the new Titans stadium.
