Case centers on Hermitage apartment death

Nashville police are investigating the death of a 46-year-old woman found inside her apartment on Hermitage Park Drive, where an autopsy determined she died as a result of strangulation. A 40-year-old man identified as her boyfriend has been charged with murder.

The victim was identified as Miranda Gray. The suspect, Jared Streich, was taken into custody following the discovery and was charged after the medical findings established the manner and cause of death.

Timeline: 911 call, initial response, and autopsy findings

Police said the case began with a 911 call placed at about 9:30 a.m. on a Monday when Streich reported Gray was unresponsive and requested an ambulance. Responding officers found Gray deceased inside the apartment. Investigators reported that Streich declined to answer a question at the scene about how long she had been unresponsive.

An autopsy later documented numerous injuries and concluded Gray died by strangulation. Following that determination, homicide detectives filed the murder charge.

Bond conditions and earlier arrests referenced in the investigation

Investigators stated Streich was already under bond conditions from a February aggravated assault arrest connected to alleged threats involving a knife, and that those conditions required him to stay away from the Hermitage Park Drive apartment. Police said he was arrested the night of the death on a bond-violation matter while the death investigation continued, before the murder charge was announced after the autopsy.

Police records described multiple domestic violence-related arrests involving the same couple in the months leading up to Gray’s death, including allegations that Gray reported to officers. Those accounts included:

  • a February incident involving alleged threats with a knife, later indicted as domestic assault with an October court date referenced by police;
  • an April arrest involving allegations of physical injury, with charges later dropped in General Sessions Court;
  • a July arrest involving allegations of a knife-related injury, with charges later dropped in General Sessions Court;
  • an August arrest for allegedly violating bond conditions after officers responded to a domestic disturbance and found Streich at the apartment.

What investigators have and have not said publicly

Police have not publicly detailed a motive, the sequence of events inside the apartment immediately before Gray was found, or whether additional witnesses were present. The investigation remains active, and further court proceedings are expected as the case moves forward.
