Morning and Midday Highway Disruptions

Commuters heading through the northern loop and into Rutherford County should prepare for several roadwork projects today, Tuesday, February 24. The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has scheduled bridge inspection operations that will impact ramp access on I-65 and Briley Parkway during the midday hours.

  • I-65 Southbound: From 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the right lane of the ramp to Ellington Parkway (Exit 90A) will be closed.
  • I-65 Northbound: The ramp to Briley Parkway Eastbound (Exit 90B) will undergo a full closure for approximately one hour between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
  • Briley Parkway: Inside lane closures are scheduled for the eastbound lanes near mile marker 16. Traffic will be diverted to Exit 16, where drivers can re-enter via Dickerson Road.

Drivers traveling between Nashville and Murfreesboro should also note that spot repairs are continuing on I-24 Westbound. Intermittent lane closures will begin at 11:00 a.m. near the Davidson County line (mile marker 63) and continue until 5:00 p.m. These repairs are necessary to address pavement damage from recent winter weather, and while one lane will stay open, heavy congestion is expected throughout the afternoon.

Public Transit Detours and City Street Repairs

WeGo Public Transit passengers should check their schedules for several active detours today. Specifically, Route 93 (Star West End Shuttle) will be on detour from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. between Demonbreun Street and Riverfront Station. Service on Route 86 (Smyrna - La Vergne) and Route 95 (Spring Hill - Franklin) also remains on detour due to long-term infrastructure projects.

Local commuters should also keep the following street conditions in mind:

  • John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge: Intermittent partial closures began yesterday for scheduled repairs. Pedestrians can still cross via the north sidewalk, but cyclists are required to dismount.
  • Woodland Street Bridge: Phase 2 of the repair project is ongoing, resulting in narrowed lanes and slower speeds for cross-river traffic.
  • Bradford Hills Drive: This street remains fully closed at the Nolensville Pike intersection for widening work, a closure expected to last through April.

Evening Matchday Traffic Alert

Traffic is expected to surge in the Wedgewood-Houston neighborhood this evening as Nashville SC hosts Atlético Ottawa for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff at GEODIS Park. On-campus parking lots open at 4:00 p.m., and heavy congestion is likely on 8th Avenue South and Wedgewood Avenue. To alleviate pressure, WeGo is offering fare-free service on routes 52 and 77 for match attendees. Rideshare users are reminded that the designated drop-off and pickup zone is located on Craighead Street.
