How Nashville Electric Service customers can find estimated restoration dates during Winter Storm Fern outages

What’s new: address-level outage status for residential customers
Nashville Electric Service (NES) has rolled out a web-based tool that allows residential customers to look up the status of their individual outage by entering a home address. The platform is designed to answer two of the most common questions during large-scale outages: whether an outage is already logged in the system and whether a repair crew has been assigned.
The tool is part of a broader public-information push after Winter Storm Fern caused widespread damage across the NES service area. At the peak of the event, NES reported about 230,000 customers without power—one of the largest outages in the utility’s history.
How to check your estimated restoration date
Use the Residential Service Status page (also referred to as “My Outage Tracker”) to search by address and view the current status of service at that location.
Check the ZIP-code restoration estimates posted on NES’s outage information page. NES has said these ZIP-based estimates are updated twice daily, reflecting changes in damage assessments and progress in the field.
Use the outage map for a system-wide view, including outage clusters and areas where crews are currently operating.
What the estimates mean—and why they can change
NES has provided system-level restoration targets tied to the storm response. As of January 31, NES projected that 85% of customers would have power restored by Sunday, February 1, and that full restoration would be completed by February 9. Those figures describe overall progress goals and do not guarantee restoration for every individual address on the same timeline.
NES has cautioned that estimated timelines are built from real-time conditions and can shift as crews encounter additional damage, including problems with poles, lines, transformers, and access issues. During this event, NES reported extensive infrastructure damage, including hundreds of broken poles.
How to report an outage and request updates
Text “OUT” to 637797 (NESPWR) from a phone number associated with the account.
Call the outage line at 615-234-0000.
Report directly through the online outage map, which NES says can be used even without logging in.
Safety reminder: Downed power lines should be treated as energized. In an emergency or hazardous situation, call 911.
When restoration may depend on repairs at the home
Even when neighborhood power is restored, service to an individual property can be delayed if equipment attached to the structure is damaged. NES has noted that it cannot safely reconnect power in cases involving issues such as damaged meter bases, weatherheads, or masts. In those situations, repairs typically require a licensed electrician and an inspection process before power can be restored.
For commercial customers seeking restoration updates, NES has directed callers to 615-736-6900.
